MAKE IT MAKE SENSE: The beginning of the end of Trump?

We now have graphic confirmation that some of the richest, most powerful, most influential men in the world were involved in and discussed openly and at great length a years-long sex-trafficking scheme/espionage operation in which they considered themselves, not the kids they preyed upon or the many women who tried to hold them to account, the victims.

And what’s on the minds of the many who’ve been obsessively perusing the database? Is this enough to bring down Donald Trump, as it seems to have done for the Windsor formerly known as Prince Andrew?

Can Epstein actually get his revenge on the man he appears to have despised? Can he take Trump down — from beyond the grave?

There’s a lot in this data dump. It looks like Jeffrey Epstein offered Russian operatives background information on Trump. There’s mortgage fraud. Serious lapses of journalistic ethics. There’s Ken Starr, famously scandalized by sexual improprieties, hugs-tight with Yale Law’s most infamous abuser and the world’s best-connected sex trafficker. And there is example after example of powerful men turning to Epstein for everything from relationship advice to diplomatic strategy to philosophical insight. And of course, complaining about how they’d been done wrong by #MeToo, even as they discussed — in writing, mostly at a third-grade level — their own participation in or complicity with child rape.

This email dump is a look into the deep emotional background of a world where it makes sense for Elon Musk to cut off aid and thus sign the death warrants for hundreds of thousands of people, for Donald Trump to “just…kill people” or drag out a hostage crisis that threatens to starve millions of people — his constituents, opponents and supporters alike — to score a political point.

Behind the scenes, it’s clear that to these powerful people, the deaths of others don’t matter. Just abstractions that get in the way of impressing their slightly more powerful friends. Exhibit A for why fighting oligarchy just might be a winning message.

The coming days will tell whether this is the beginning of the end — or another Mueller report.
